Compared to last week, flyweight and 500 lbs steers sold sharply higher, 400 lbs and 600 lbs steers sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher. On the heifers most weight under 700 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher. Not enough heavy weight yearling steers and heifers for a market comparison. Slaughter cows sold unevenly steady, and bull sold 4.00 to 5.00 lower. Cow/calf pairs sold fully steady. Demand was good for cattle to be turned out to summer grass and for pairs with moderate demand for slaughter cattle. Several areas of the state should have a plenty of summer grass and drinking water due to the large amount of snow this past winter. Quite a few cattlemen are planning on near normal stocking rates this summer in the central areas of the state. Some drought still lingering in the far west and on the eastern side of the Cowboy state.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
