Compared to last week, steer calves under 500 lbs sold 1.00 to 3.00 higher, over 500 lbs sold mostly 2.00 lower. Not enough yearling steers for a market comparison. Heifer calves sold unevenly steady to 2.00 lower. Yearling heifers sold steady. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 1.00 lower lower and bulls traded steady. Bred heifers sold sharply higher per head with a large consignment of reputation bred heifers leading the upward charge. Bred cows sold steady to 100.00 per head more than last week. Demand was good at all reporting locations. Some areas of the Southern Plains have received some rain and the light calf market picked up. Many of those calves will get kicked out on cheap winter grazing pastures. Once again, many young heiferetts and feeding cows returning to the country.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Wyoming barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
