Not enough comparable offerings of feeder cattle for a market comparison. Slaughter cows sold 3.00 lower and slaughter bulls sold 7.00 lower. No resent comparison for bred cows or pairs. Demand was good for the short supply of feeder cattle and replacement cattle. Moderate demand for slaughter cattle with a large number of those weigh-up cows going back to feed. There continues to be a lot of slaughter cows hitting the markets across the state and neighboring states has added a downward pressure to the market. One would think the weigh-up numbers should start to slow up but it appears as dry conditions are starting to prevail in the state, cattlemen are not keeping an open or older cow for re-breeding and are only running pairs on available grass. Alfalfa tonnage on the Eastern side of the state is roughly half of last year’s first cutting in some fields. Some of the decrease is due to late frost, hail and weevil infestation. Some producers in the Western areas have sprayed for the bugs and will be starting to cut alfalfa in the near future. Hopefully, the hay season will be bountiful as several contacts have had a lot of inquiry for new crop hay.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Wyoming barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
