Compared to last week steers under 750 lbs sold steady to 2.00 higher, over 750 lbs sold 5.00 to 6.00 higher on packages with load lots over 900 lbs 10.00 to 15.00 higher. Heifers under 700 lbs sold fully steady to 1.00 higher, over 700 lbs sold 7.00 to 10.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold 2.00 to 7.00 higher with the most advance on the lean cows. Slaughter bulls sold 4.00 higher. Demand was good for calves and feeder cattle. The slaughter cattle market was active with quite a few of the cows going back to the country. It will be interesting to see how the summer markets play out at most of Wyoming is listed as abnormally dry for this time of year by the US Drought Monitor. Majority of the hay producers have irrigated at least once with many reports they are on there second turn through the field. Some hay producers have started alfalfa production a tick earlier than normal as some fields had hail damage in the eastern side of the state.
