Compared to last week steer calves under 400 lbs sold 11.00-15.00 higher, 400-600 lbs 6.00-7.00 higher and over 600 lbs 5.00-8.00 higher; heifer calves under 400 lbs 2.00-4.00 higher, 400-600 lbs 6.00-10.00 higher, 600-700 lbs steady to 2.00 higher, and over 700 lbs 3.00-4.00 higher. Demand good for all classes but especially for weaned preconditioned calves. Note that most of the calves under 600 lbs were bawling calves with some flagged as “unweaned” and others with no comments. Within this report the bulk of those non commented lighter weight steer and heifer calves came to town were right off the cow. Slaughter and feeder cows sold 4.00-5.00 higher with the slaughter bulls holding steady. Riverton Livestock Auction will continue to sell load-lot feeder cattle every Tuesday, however, the slaughter cows and bulls will sell on Friday through the fall run. That Friday sale will not be reported or included in this report.
