Only 1 reported feeder cattle auction this week as most locations did not host a feeder cattle auction during the two weeks of Christmas and New Year's holidays. Very good demand for feeder steers and heifers. Cash fed cattle up to 233.00 and rising CME Live and Feeder Cattle futures have greatly improved the outlook for the coming months in the fat cattle market. Next week all auction locations will resume their normal weekly sale schedules, expecting large auction receipts.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
