Compared to last week: Yearling feeder steers 2.00 to 4.00 lower, yearling feeder heifers 5.00 to 10.00 lower. More spring born calves were offered this week, too few a week ago to make good price comparisons. Good demand for yearling steers, moderate to good for yearling heifers. There was pressure on the market as cash fat cattle in the north slipped below 230.00. Packers bid lower as the boxed beef market continues to quickly drop, retreating around 60.00 in the last month. Moderate to good demand for spring born calves, farmer feeders are busy in the field with fall harvest and most aren't wanting a calf yet. Cattle feeders have greatly curbed their enthusiasm for getting feeder cattle bought, they are now approaching the market much more cautiously.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
