Compared to last week: Steer calves 15.00 to 30.00 higher, heifer calves 15.00 to 25.00 higher. Yearling feeder steers 5.00 to 15.00 higher, yearling feeder heifers 2.00 to 8.00 higher. Very good demand for spring born steer and heifer calves, the fall run has begun and ranch raised calves are coming to town and being met by eager buyers. Few offerings of calves in East River auctions as cattle producers on that side of the state are busy with fall harvest. Very good demand for yearling steers and heifers, either those off grass or coming out of a grow yard, there are plenty of buyers ready to compete heavily. There has been new found support for the feeder cattle market, as the CME cattle futures complex found new legs and shot up to new highs. This is a big turn around as packers were trying to convince cattle feeders that they needed to accept lower money in October. Cattle feeders are now feeling better again about the prospects of the coming months in the fed cattle market. Corn harvest is rolling fast as the weather has been dry and windy, helping to dry the crop down quickly. Big progress is being made as those farmer feeders have a little time now to take on those bawling calves.
