Compared to last week: Feeder steers 10.00 to 15.00 higher, instances to 20.00 higher, heifers 6.00 to 10.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers, best demand remains on light fleshed cattle to background, either in a yard or on grass. Very good demand for replacement quality heifers. The outlook for the grazing season has improved as the rains came to where they were desperately needed and the grass is growing nicely. The cash fed cattle market continues to march higher, up to 242.00. Cattle producers are very bullish about the market going forward as the cash continues to outperform all expectations. The futures contracts aren't keeping pace with the rapidly rising cash market. Feeder cattle offerings are more limited as we move into the summer, except for the summer BBQ sales that have begun and will continue next week. Cattle feeders know they have to strike while the cattle are offered because they might not get another chance for a week or two.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
