Compared to last week: Feeder steers steady to 4.00 higher, heifers 3.00 to 8.00 higher, instances to 10.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers. A lighter offering of feeder cattle as turnout time has arrived and yearlings are on grass. Feedyard backgrounded yearlings are the majority of offerings now, flesh conditions are very important as cattle feeders try to buy cattle that will gain the most efficiently. Cash fed cattle set another new record, historical high price this week topping at 237.00. Good rains have come to the state, this was desperately needed by cattle producers or they would have had to send cow/calf pairs to town. Corn is planted and growing and looking good.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
