Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 800 lbs 1.00 to 2.00 higher, over 800 lbs steady to 3.00 lower. Feeder heifers unevenly steady. Demand moderate to good on steers and heifers under 800 lbs, only moderate demand for those heavier weights. A tough week for CME Live Cattle futures put pressure on the feeder cattle market this week. Big strings of backgrounded yearlings continue to be offered at the auctions. Cattle feeders are apprehensive about pushing too hard when trying to get cattle bought as the futures contracts aren't supportive of higher feeder cattle prices. Cash fed cattle traded lower in a wide range of prices, down to 105.00 and 170.00 dressed by late week. Daily slaughter totals keep increasing, reaching up to 117,000 on Thursday. Cattle feeders are still having trouble getting their cattle sold, more new crop calf fed cattle are reaching finished weights and are being offered for sale as well. Slaughter cows and bulls mostly steady.
