Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 650 lbs steady to 2.00 higher, over 650 lbs steady to 2.00 lower with instances of 3.00 to 5.00 lower on 850-900 lbs. Feeder heifers unevenly steady. Good demand throughout the week after the blizzard that passed through the Eastern side of the state. Friday auctions saw consignment cancellations as the storm was beginning. The temps dropped well below zero and coupled with 50-60 mph winds made for terrible conditions. Farmer feeders were ready to buy cattle by Monday however, cattle were greener and in an empty weighing condition. The cattle futures had a rough week, which did add pressure to the market on the heavier cattle suitable only for finishing. The market was the most active on the lightweight cattle, in light flesh, as numbers of those cattle are not as plentiful as their heavier mates. Cash fed cattle market established around 124.00 and 198.00-199.00 dressed. Cattle feeders are operating in profitable times currently but there is much concern about the coming months in the third quarter of the year. Slaughter cows uneven, Breakers steady, Boner and Lean cows and Bulls 3.00 to 6.00 higher.
