Compared to last week: Yearling feeder steers 5.00 to 10.00 higher, except 850-950 lbs steady to 2.00 higher, yearling feeder heifers 2.00 to 5.00 higher except 850-950 lbs steady to 2.00 higher. Much improved demand this week after last week's bullish Cattle On Feed report confirmed much lower feedyard placements which is supportive for the coming months in the fed cattle market. Live Cattle futures responded to this positive news and made large advances, putting Oct back up above the 100.00 mark and moving Dec closer to 110.00. Fairly large auction receipts across the state as yearling feeder cattle producers feeling better about the market and willing to consign their cattle for sale. These yearling operators have been able to hold their cattle on grass as grazing has been plentiful and a lack of a killing frost has allowed yearlings to stay out on grass without losing pounds. A few consignments of spring born calves were seen this week, demand was fairly good. Silage harvest in full swing has farmer feeders busy but they are ready and willing to take on yearlings to fill their yards as the turnaround in the cattle futures has done a great deal to give them a little optimism about the future of the fed cattle market. Slaughter cows steady to 3.00 higher, bulls steady to 1.00 higher.
