For NASS: 1,265 cows and bulls sold with 64 percent going to packers; Last week: 2,470 with 61 percent going to packers; Last year: 2,880 with 71 percent going to packers.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers mostly 1.00-6.00 lower. Feeder heifers 4.00-6.00 lower. Demand light to moderate for all classes. Steer calves 3.00-6.00 lower and heifer calves not well tested, but instances of 3.00-8.00 higher. Slaughter cows 6.00-14.00 lower. Slaughter bulls 5.00-16.00 lower. Live cattle futures remain volatile this week, but feeder cattle futures closed higher most of the week. Cooler weather is expected across the trade region next week with a chance of rain or snow for some areas.
