Compared to last week, steer calves sold 2.00 to 8.00 lower; yearling steers sold steady to 6.00 higher. Most auctions are still on every two-week schedules at this time, however when October rolls around, that will change. Some auctions also had their first show of spring calves coming off the cow. Few calves were just weaned while there were a few packages of calves weaned at least 45 days. Some ranchers in drought-plagued areas weaned calves early to try and assist the cows to stay in condition. Most calves had preconditioning shots even though they are unweaned. Also, several pregged open heifers were in the offering this week. Feedlots sold dressed sales steady to 5.00 lower at 345.00 to 350.00 and trading of live sales sold steady to 2.00 lower at 220.00 to 223.00. A major weather system is expected to bring heavy rain to Nebraska this coming week with widespread rainfall of 1 to 4 inches expected Tuesday through Thursday.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
