Compared to last week, calves and yearlings sold unevenly steady throughout the week. Demand was moderate to good. Few, more bawling calves hit the market several weeks or months earlier than normal. Especially from the western end of the state were drought conditions prevail all year. Some ranchers just sold most of there steer calves and are holding back heifers and probably will develop, grow them and sell sometime after the first of the year. Most fresh calves had precondition vaccinations. Some of the yearlings were out of backgrounding lots with most coming off short summer grass. Feedlot trade was steady on dressed sales at 350.00 and live sales sold steady to 1.00 lower from 222.00 to 223.00. Another week of large piles of silage getting piled and packed along with some high moisture corn slowing coming to the pit in many areas. Spotting rain showers in some areas but not enough to relive drought like conditions across the region. Majority of the cattle less than 600 lbs are bawlers even if they are not tagged as unweaned.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
