Compared to last week steer calves less than 600 lbs sold 10.00 to 20.00 lower, 6 weight steers sold 9.00 higher, 7 weight steers sold 20.00 lower and yearling steers over 800 lbs sold 10.00 higher. Heifer calves less than 600 lbs sold 10.00 to 20.00 lower, 6 weight sold 4.00 lower, 7 weights sold 15.00 higher and 8 weight sold 3.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good with some auctions having several buyers in attendance. Negative rumors or quotes have been very hard on the cattle sector the last few weeks. With the CME cattle boards and the feeder cattle index falling it has been hard for buyers to get a good feel on what they can pay for a certain weight class and still try to make a profit on the other end. Heifers going back for replacements in a cow herd were sought after this week as buyers butted heads to procure top quality angus and F1 genetics from Sandhills ranchers. Valentine Livestock sold some stick out replacement heifers at 515.00-550.00 per cwt on 616-626 weights. Feedlot sales sold unevenly steady on live sales from 230.00 to 230.50 and dressed sales sold steady to 1.00 lower from 357.00 to 360.00.
