Compared to last week steer calves and yearlings sold right at 20.00 lower. Heifers less than 800 lbs sold 10.00 to 30.00 lower, over 800 lbs sold 10.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good throughout the week. Negative news in the beef sector brought rather huge sell offs in the CME cattle boards throughout the week. The mindset that the upswing in the market may be over clamped the checkbooks shut and buyers pulled back bids rather fast and started to be more selective in what they bid on. Uniformity, all the fall shot protocol was a must or bidding slowed even more. Overall, the fall cash calf market is still breaking records from previous year's sales and is still better than the summer video sales when many all-time highs were made. Feedlot sales fell with the CME live cattle boards but not a sharply lower than they could have been. Live sales sold 1.00-5.00 lower from 235.00-239.00 and dressed sales 2.00 to 7.00 lower from 365.00 to 370.00.
