Nebraska Weekly Livestock Auction Summary

Receipts 10,598Last week 16,579Year ago 15,454

Compared to last week bawling steer calves sold sharply higher. Yearling weight steers sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Bawling heifer calves sold steady to 2.00 higher. Yearling heifers traded steady to 5.00 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Buyers are starting to look for calves with precondition vaccinations especially protocols with a respiratory booster. Buyers will still purchase calves with spring shots but most of a few dollars back from the fall precondition calves. Dust in the air from fall harvest with farmers busy combining soybeans and high moisture corn. Just around the corner will be dry corn hitting the bins. Fire danger across most of the state due to lack of rain the last several weeks. Most pastures are dry and crunchy and hopefully fires will be nil this harvest season. Nebraska feedlots live sales sold 1.00 to 2.00 higher from 186.00 to 187.00 and dressed sales sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher at 294.00 than last week.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
