Compared to last week, steers under 500 lbs sold 10.00 higher, 500 to 800 lbs sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher, over 800 lbs sold 4.00 higher. Heifers under 600 lbs sold 7.00 to 8.00 higher, over 600 lbs sold 3.00 to 4.00 higher. Demand was good to very good for light weight cattle with moderate to good demand for feeder cattle. Quite a few buyers at reporting auctions along with internet buyers pushing on the market. Much needed warmer weather at weeks close that started to melt snow from cornfields and open some grazing for stock cows. On the downside, most feedlot pens will turn into a mess with all the melting snow. Quite a few livestock owners have been seeking additional hay supplies due to the previous 60 days of winter weather. Some have been fortunate to find a load of hay here and there with some hay coming in from South and North Dakota. Nebraska negotiated slaughter cattle was slow to transpire with most of the trading on Friday afternoon. Dressed sales steady to 2.00 higher from 248.00 to 250.00.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
