Compared to last week steers under 700 lbs sold steady to 3.00 higher, over 700 lbs sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher. Heifers under 600 lbs sold 7.00 to 8.00 lower, 600 to 800 lbs sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher and over 800 lbs sold 4.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good. With the large number of calves and feeder cattle at area auctions buyers could be very selective and procure what they exactly wanted. For instance, if a few mixed color cattle were on a load the buyers would request to make the lot all one color and cattle were sorted to fit the request. Buyers know that uninformative of a product is very beneficial for the yearling operator, feedlots, and the packer. Nebraska feedlots had to fight hard to hold the dressed market steady at 248.00. With looming poor pen conditions and tag clinging on the hide feedlots need a boost in the negotiated price since there overall dressing percentage is going to be lower than many are accustom too. Live sales bounced around unevenly steady from 152.00 to 156.00.
