Nebraska Weekly Livestock Auction Summary

USDA Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News · Federal-State Market News Service, Kearney, NE (LS-WH)
Feeder CattleReceipts 18,717Last week 30,594Year ago 20,201
Replacement CattleReceipts 2,038Last week 108Year ago 904

Compared to last week steers under 500 lbs sold sharply higher, over 500 lbs sold steady to 2.00 higher. Heifers under 500 lbs sold steady, 500 to 700 lbs sold 2.00 lower, over 700 lbs sold 1.00 to 2.00 higher. Demand was mostly good for calves and feeders with moderate to good demand for bred heifers and cows. New round of optimism in the market from the cattle futures contracts responding to the bullish Cattle Inventory report. With costs of gains high, flesh condition remains the most determining factor when feeder cattle are offered in the ring. The supply of light weight cattle, to make yearlings gets tighter with each passing week and the market is active on these cattle. Some ranchers continue to sell a few momma cows, as they are short on feed and feel this is the best option for now. Nebraska feedlots sold dressed sales 4.00 higher at 254.00 and live sales traded fully steady to 3.00 higher at mostly 158.00.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
