Compared to last week steers under 700 lbs sold unevenly steady. Steers over 700 lbs sold 1.00 to 3.00 higher. All weights of heifers sold unevenly steady. Demand was good. Especially for yearlings coming off of grass. Buyers were in the gathering mode this week for yearlings. Majority of the time buyers would take the whole allotment in the drive on the winning bid. With some lot having 300 head plus in them. Hay market is sluggish for this time of year. The best demand has been for squares going out of state and to dairy's. Light demand on grinding type hay to area feedlots. Corn is maturing ahead of last year across the state. Per NASS crop report 8/16; Corn in the dough was 88%, well ahead of 55% last year, and ahead of 72% for the five-year average. Dented was 29%, ahead of 13% last year and 20% average. Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
