Compared to last week, yearling steers sold mostly steady and yearling heifers over 650 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher. Demand was good with several buyers for the short supply of cattle on hand. Some of the cattle came off of summer grass with some out of grow yards. Quite a few slaughter cows and bulls continue to hit the market as some areas of the state are showing signs of dryness. Feedlots cash sales have sold from 95.00-96.00 live and 154.00-155.00 dressed. Another avenue a feedlot can take to sell its cattle is through the CME delivery process. For June, there has been 24 loads tendered in Nebraska with 101 loads tendered in the Southern Plains. Hot dry weather has been miserable for most but the hay producers have been liking these conditions as it lets them put up top quality hay with out excess moisture and damage like last year. On a good note, more meadow hay should get produced this year in the Sandhills as some of the standing water is starting to recede.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
