Compared to last week steers under 600 lbs sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher, 600 to 800 lbs sold steady and over 800 lbs sold 2.00 lower. Heifer under 500 lbs sold 3.00 higher, 500 to 700 lbs unevenly steady and over 700 lbs 4.00 to 5.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 lower and slaughter bulls steady. Quite a few of the weigh-up cows went back to feed. Demand was good for grass cattle and cow/calf pairs with moderate to good demand for feedlot placements. Grass cattle has become a broad term this spring. Some of the regular feedlot placements are going to greener pastures to lengthen the time of there slaughter end weight. Feedlot trade for the week, live sales at 95.00 and dressed sales at 150.00. Per NASS on there weekly crop progress report 4/26/2020 is showed corn planted at 20% compared to 12% last year and 5 year ave of 16%. One would assume next Monday's report will be substantially higher as the weather has been very good for planting with some contacts stating they are done with corn.
