Compared to last week, flyweight steer calves sold 13.00 higher. Steers over 500 lbs sold 2.00 to 6.00 higher. Heifers under 700 lbs sold 5.00 to 6.00 higher and over 700 lbs sold 2.00 higher. Demand was good for grass cattle, replacement heifers with moderate demand for heavier weight feeders. Warm dry weather on the most part this week has let farmers get a lot of tillage and some planting done. When this happens the farmer/feeder will market some cattle to aid in less chores and longer days in the field. Quite a few buyers at reporting auctions or on the internet this week trying to fill empty grass pastures with light weight calves, middle weight feeders, thin fleshed cows and pairs to be turned out in green grass in the very near future. Feedlot trade has been all over the place this week. With limited cash sales moving some feed yards jumping in on cash bids in order to get on the limited shackle space at area slaughter houses. So, live bids traded from 95.00 to 100.00 and dressed sales 148.00 to 160.00. Light rain across some of the state this Friday morning will help pasture grass and alfalfa to shoot upward when the sun pops back out. Hopefully, there wont be a late freeze like last year to stunt all forages from growing! Have a great weekend!!

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
