Compared to last week, steer calves under 600 lbs sold steady. Weaned calves and yearling feeders over 600 lbs sold 5.00 to 7.00 higher. Light weight heifer calves sold 7.00 higher, with yearling feeders 6.00 to 8.00 higher than last week. Demand was good at the end of last week and throughout this week for yearling cattle. Most lots of yearlings are coming off of summer grass and several consignments are selling lighter than last year due to the "washy" pasture grass. With this type of grass, most cattle are in light flesh and should have good compensatory gains when they hit the feedlot. Silage choppers are in full swing across the region and some feedlots are getting ready to start piling high moisture corn. Feedlot sales are slow to kick off this week, a few cattle sold on Thursday at mostly 162.00 dressed, 2.00 to 3.00 higher than last week on a light test.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
