North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

No recent price comparisons to be made since this is the first week that auction market locations have resumed their normal sale schedule. Very good demand for all weights and classes as the market outlook as improved from before the Christmas break. Backgrounders were ready to compete heavily and give more money for the light fleshed, yearling making, steers and heifers that they need. Supplies of those kinds are more limited than those weighing 600 lbs plus. Cattle feeders were ready to buy those big calves, but they still feel the sting of their outgoing fat cattle losing money. Large auction receipts expected next week again as cattle producers continue their winter marketing.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
