North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Receipts 10,344Last week 4,078Year ago 10,446

Compared to last week: Steer calves under 550 lbs 30.00 to 40.00 higher, over 550 lbs steady except 650-700 lbs 15.00 higher. Heifer calves 20.00 to 45.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steer and heifer calves, this was the last marketing week of the calendar year as auction markets won't host another feeder cattle auction until after the New Year. There is new found optimism, again, in the feeder cattle market as cattle producers keep their eyes locked on the strong market fundamentals. Yearling operators were ready to battle it out to get the light cattle bought that they need to make yearlings, supplies of those kinds are getting harder to find. Cattle feeders were willing to give more as well as the cash fed cattle market, and the futures contracts have been supportive to the feeder cattle market.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
