Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 700 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 higher, instances of 12.00-15.00 higher. Feeder heifers 5.00 to 10.00 higher, instances to 15.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers as they cash fed cattle market rose up to 202.50 last week and the cattle futures contracts went higher as well. With the pop in the fat market there was another round of optimism injected into the cattle market, the futures contracts made big gains in a week which gave cattle feeders the signal they were looking for. The market is the most active for those cattle in light enough weight and flesh to be developed into yearlings on this summer's grass. The supply of this class of cattle is limited and gets tighter with each passing week. There is a lot of demand for a fancy enough heifer to make a momma cow out of, as cattle producers would like to expand their herds if they can. The lack of moisture this winter is concerning as there was very little snow this winter.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
