North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

USDA Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News · Federal-State Market News Service, Bismarck, ND (LS-BM)
Receipts 7,339Last week 3,542Year ago 3,338

Compared to last week: Steer calves 3.00 to 4.00 higher, heifers steady to higher undertones. Very good demand for steer and heifer calves, but the most interest is in a steer calf. Cash fed cattle spiked up to 192.00 this week and the Live Cattle futures traded higher as well, this lit a fire underneath the calf market as yearling operators had a very profitable year and want to secure their cattle needs while these light calves are available. Dry conditions in western North Dakota are pushing calves to town while central ND is in better shape and producers there are working on their corn harvest and not ready to sell calves yet.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
