Compared to last week: Steer calves under 600 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 lower, over 600 lbs 7.00 to 10.00 lower. Heifer calves 5.00 to 10.00 lower, instances to 14.00 lower. Yearling feeder steers and heifers not well compared but lower undertones were evident. Light to moderate demand for calves this week, moderate to good for yearlings. A large winter storm moved through the region midweek which curtailed calf consignments. As the weather was poor, making it difficult to haul livestock as well, calf buyers showed less interest this week in buying calves. Lower CME cattle futures contracts putting great pressure on the feeder market. Rising price of corn is also adding to cattle feeders concern causing them to refigure breakevens with a higher cost of gain.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
