Compared to last week: Feeder steers 2.00 to 5.00 lower, except 600-700 lbs and 800-850 lbs steady. Feeder heifers steady to 4.00 lower. Demand only moderate this week, best demand remains on those light weight cattle for backgrounding as this class of cattle will reach final finished weights at a much later time period. Cattle feeders continue to struggle with marketing their fat cattle, as very few cattle are bought each week and those that were bought in recent weeks fail to be slaughtered yet. Choice boxed beef reached 367.56 yet dressed steers sold no higher than 160.00, some only achieved a bid of 147.00. These cattle feeders are being punished severely by the market disfunctions that exist currently. Feeder cattle producers that had delayed their marketings in hopes of the feeder market improving have now begun to sell their cattle as they need to make the room for this year's calf crop.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
