Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 3.00 to 6.00 lower. Moderate to good demand this week, best demand remains on light fleshed and weight cattle that can go to grazing programs. Cattle feeders are uncertain of how to proceed as the futures contracts dropped by triple digits everyday this week. Choice boxed beef has climbed to 284.29 while dressed fat cattle traded as low as 148.00 this week. Cattle feeders are finding it very difficult to get their cattle sold and now having to accept much lower prices while beef prices skyrocket. Cattle producers that need to sell last year's calves in order to make room for this year's are starting to do that as they are losing hope that the feeder market will improve much. Feeder cattle producers and cattle feeders are wondering if they will be able to continue in this industry where profits don't exist outside of the packing and retail sector.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
