Heifers 500-749 lbs sold 15.00-20.00 higher with instances of 30.00 higher seen at times. All other weights of steers and heifers were too lightly tested last week to develop a full market trend, higher undertones were noticed. Quality this week was mostly average to very attractive, and much more attractive than last week. Cattle were offered in all package sizes from singles to load lots and in-between. Demand was very good for all offerings as CME positions continue to push higher and record high fat cattle prices are being seen. The best demand continues to be seen for grass cattle as both order-buyers and ranchers compete over offerings. Market activity was mostly active this week with a large crowd on hand at every sell. Weigh up cows sold on mostly good demand for light to moderate offerings. Packer buyers showed good demand for both slaughter and feeding cows this week. Slaughter cows sold mostly 1.00 higher on breaking cows, boning and lean cows sold fully steady. Slaughter bulls sold 2.00-3.00 higher. Feeding cows sold generally steady in a narrow comparison. Cow and bull quality was average to attractive this week. Weigh up conditions were mixed from below average to above average. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold on very good demand. These offerings sold mostly 10.00 higher with instances of 20.00 higher seen at times.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Montana barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
