Compared to last week: All feeder cattle were too lightly tested this week to develop an accurate market trend, however steady to firm undertones were noticed on all offerings. Demand was mostly good to very good this week for light offerings. Quality was plain to average and not as attractive as last week. Most offerings sold in small lots or as singles. CME positions continue to push higher giving more support for feeder cattle. The best demand continues to be seen for grass cattle as both order-buyers and local ranchers compete over cattle. Market activity was mostly active this week as ranchers and order-buyers both bid actively over limited offerings. Weigh up cows sold on mostly good demand for light to moderate offerings. Packer buyers showed good demand for both slaughter and feeding cows again this week. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to firm on breaking cows, boning and lean cows sold generally steady to 1.00 lower. Slaughter bulls sold 2.00-4.00 higher. Feeding cows sold generally steady in a narrow comparison. Cow and bull quality was average this week. Weigh up conditions were mixed from below average to above average. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold on very good demand. These offerings sold generally steady.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Montana barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
