Compared to last week: All feeder cattle were too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Quality this week was mostly plain to average. Most calves were offered in small packages or as singles. The shortened holiday week had many buyers out of the market this week. Demand was mostly light for light offerings. Market activity was slow. Weigh up cows sold on light to moderate demand for moderate offerings. Over the past last few weeks packers have bought heavy offerings of cows to send to feed. With the holiday week last week packers were able to take a back seat and allow the market to slide lower as they showed light demand for slaughter cows. Feeding cow demand was the most consistent this week as packers continue to put high quality cows away to feed to premium white. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 5.00 lower on breaking cows boning and lean cows sold mostly 3.00-5.00 lower. Feeding cows sold steady to 3.00 lower. Slaughter bulls sold generally steady to weak. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold mostly 10.00-12.00 lower. Quality was mostly plain to average this week and fewer takers were seen on this class of cows.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Montana barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
