Compared to last week: Feeder steers 550-749 lbs sold mostly 6.00 to 9.00 higher. Steers under 550 lbs were too lightly tested to develop an

accurate market trend, however higher to sharply higher undertones were noticed. Steers 750 lbs and heavier were too lightly tested to

develop an accurate market trend, however higher undertones were noticed. Feeder heifers 550-699 lbs offered the best test this week

selling mostly 2.00-5.00 higher. All other weights of feeder heifers were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, however

higher undertones were noticed. Quality this week was mostly average to attractive. Feeders were offered in mostly moderate size packages

with many load lots on offer as well. Flesh conditions were mostly light to moderate with a few heavy weight cattle offering moderate plus to

fleshy condition. Many sets of cattle were backgrounded and developed for grass. Demand for light weight cattle was very good this week

with many sets of lightweight cattle being sold for export. CME positions were mixed this week after last weeks big gains. As of Thursdays

settlements May closed at 123.80, and August at 131.05 which is 6.475 and 7.10 lower respectfully from last Thursdays close to this

Thursdays close. Demand overall was moderate to good for moderate offerings. Market activity was mostly moderate to active with many

buyers ringside and on the internet actively bidding on cattle. Weigh up cows sold on mostly good demand for moderate offerings. Packers

continue to be aggressive as they bid on cows for immediate harvest this week. Packers showed good demand for all classes of cows this

week as they purchased cows to feed to premium white, short term feeding cows for the holiday and cows for immediate harvest. Slaughter

cows sold mostly 1.00-3.00 higher on all classes. Feeding cows sold mostly steady to 2.00 higher. Demand from feeding buyers returned this

week and they were very competitive with packers as they bid on high quality cows to feed. Demand for feeding cows was mostly good.

Slaughter bulls sold mostly 2.00-4.00 higher. Cow and bull quality this week was average to very attractive. Cows showed mixed weigh up

conditions this week. Weekly beef slaughter was higher again this week. Slaughter through Thursday was 358,000 head compared to 323,000

head last week and 485,000 head last year. Young age cows suitable to feed or re-breed sold unevenly steady with good demand seen for

high quality re-breed type cows and light to moderate demand seen for feeding type cattle.
