were seen this week. Quality was mostly average, however demand was moderate to good. Steer calves weighing less than 600 lbs sold

mostly 10.00 lower. Heifer calves under 700 lbs sold mostly 1.00-3.00 lower, heifers over 700 lbs were too lightly tested to develop an

accurate market trend, however steady to higher undertones were noticed. Quality this week was mixed from plain to attractive. Demand

was mostly light to moderate. Demand for backgrounded cattle was mostly good this week as these cattle were of mostly attractive quality.

CME positions struggled much of the week as worries over the coronavirus affected both financial and commodity markets. Buyers showed

some reserve as they bid on offerings this week, demand improved slightly as the week progressed and CME positions saw some positive

movement. Market activity this week was moderate to active. Weight up cows sold on mostly light to moderate demand this week. Packers

showed lighter demand for slaughter cows this week opting to send the majority of the cows purchased to feed. Slaughter cows sold mostly

steady to 1.00 lower on breaking cows, boning and lean cows sold mostly 2.00-5.00 lower. Feeding cow demand was lighter this week with

fewer market participants seen. Feeding cows sold mostly 1.00-3.00 lower. Packer buyers purchased the majority of the cows destined for

feed. Slaughter bulls sold mostly 1.00-3.00 lower in a narrow comparison. Young age cows suitable to re-breed sold mostly 4.00-5.00 lower.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Montana barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
