Compared to last week, feeders 10.00 to 20.00 higher. The supply of feeders was moderate. Cooler weather made transporting livestock much less stressful and overall volume was pretty large for a late summer week. Some producers are marketing calves ahead of normal schedules due to the current record price levels while others are still holding as the upward trend has been consistent for some time now. More of the state appeared in the latest drought monitor with just over 60 percent of the state in some stage of drought now. At this point conditions aren't bad enough that they are requiring any widespread feeding, water concerns, or liquidation. Pasture conditions are still better than normal for this point in the year and cooler weather is an added bonus. Many, especially those in the southern half of the state, would gladly welcome a good rain at this point. Overall, it was another good week in the markets even if there some concerns along the way this week. Prices at the auctions seemed to get higher every day this week, with many new records set. Both the CME Feeder Cattle index and The MO Stocker Formula established new highs once again. Stick out sales this week included a pkg of 502 lb. steers are F&T Livestock Market which sold for 518.00. Tina Livestock Market sold a lot of 563 lb. steers for 472.00. Windsor Livestock Auction sold a lot of 644 lb. steers for 431.00 and another lot of 741 lb. steers tagged as fancy for 421.00. South Central Regional Stockyards sold 27 head of 662 lb. steers for 414.00. Windsor Livestock Auction had a load of 770 lb. steers that sold for 394.50. Lolli Brothers Livestock Market sold 29 head of 814 lb. steers for 362.00 Kingsville Livestock Auction sold 123 head of 866 lb. steers for 359.00. Joplin Regional Stockyards sold 111 head of 924 lb. steers for 350.50 and 42 head of 500 lbs. heifers at 420.00. Lolli Brothers Livestock Market sold 480 head of heifers from 650-675 lbs. for 390.10. Kingsville Livestock Auction sold 146 head of 714 lb. heifers for 368.00. Boxed beef cutout values, aside from a couple weeks during covid, established all-time highs ahead of the holiday weekend, choice closed on Friday at 415.41 up 7.50 and select closed at 390.00, up 6.34 compared to last Friday. Negotiated feedlot sales as of the 2:00 cutoff time on Friday afternoons report totaled just over 54K head for the week. Trade in the south was 242.00 live. In the North lives sales were reported mostly at 245.00 and dressed sales mostly 385.00-392.00. The Missouri Stocker formula consists of 5202 head with a weighted average weight of 549.78 lbs. and a price value of 435.67, 11.33 higher than last week. The steer/heifer spread is 41.74 per cwt.
