Compared to the limited test last week, calves sold steady to 5.00 lower and yearlings sold steady to 3.00 higher. The supply was moderate and demand was good for weaned and worked cattle especially heavier weights. Calves that are unweaned and unworked are seeing big discounts due to health risk associated with taking ownership during this time of seasonal weather swings. Corn harvest has officially started now. Crops have a lot of variance as far as maturity goes. Some fields are being harvested while others perhaps just across the road might still be fully green growing. Feedlot sales through Thursday saw negotiated volume of just shy of 87k head, sales have been higher for the week. Live sales were reported from 103.00 to 108.00 mostly around 104.00-105.00. Dressed sales reported from 162.00-165.00. As of Thursdays close box beef cutouts continue to decline each week. Choice was down 4.84 at 215.05 and select down 3.71 at 203.39 compared to last Friday’s close. Friday’s Missouri Stocker Formula consisted of 4495 head with a weighted average weight of 549.71 and a price value of 152.30, 0.16 lower than last Friday’s value.
