Compared to last week, steers and heifers steady to 3.00 lower, except some calves early week steady to 3.00 higher. Demand and supply moderate. Boxed beef cutouts closed on Thursday at 227.24 and 212.50, for Choice and Select, respectively. This is a decrease of 2.16 for Choice and 2.36 for Select, when compared to last Friday’s close. Weakness from the futures market took some dollars off of what packers were willing to pay. In feed lot sales, live sales were reported mostly from 102.00 to 104.00 and dressed sales from 162.00 to 164.00. Rain made its way across the state this week, but it was patchy and wasn’t enough in some areas. Pastures that received rain were greened up and there were some notes early week that grass-ready calves were sought after. The latest drought map shows 23.30 percent of the state is affected by some sort of drought, with the southwest region, northeast region, and parts of the Bootheel, as well as northern Missouri being included on the map. Friday’s Missouri Stocker Formula consisted of 3,981 head with a weighted average weight of 553.09 lbs. and a price value of 156.32, 0.71 higher than last Friday.
