Compared to last week, feeders sold 1.00 to 5.00 lower. The supply of feeders was moderate despite a week of typical August weather consisting of high heat and humidity. Demand for cattle was moderate but at lower price levels. Last week’s cattle on feed report was released with quite bearish placements which pressured the market this week. As the week progressed local markets saw more decline with some reporters quoting prices as much as 8.00 than last week. Feedlot sales lost ground this week, which ends a seven week climb. Live sales have averaged around 105.00 and dressed sales at 167.00, with volume near 100K as of Thursday afternoon most trade is likely done for the week. Boxed beef cutouts on the other hand continue to climb with choice closing Thursday at 231.54 up 5.60 and select 214.26 up 5.27 compared to last Friday. Choice as gained nearly 25.00 in the last three weeks ahead of the Labor Day holiday. The Missouri Stocker Formula on Friday consisted of 3816 head with a weighted average of 553.52 and a price value of 155.61, 2.60 lower than last Friday.
