USDA puts feeder cattle receipts at 19,136 head. slaughter cattle receipts at 2,506 head. replacement cattle receipts at 2,491 head. Counted as USDA files them — 357 of those are cow-calf pairs, each counted once.

Compared to last week feeder steers and heifers sold uneven from 3.00 lower to 3.00 higher. Mid-weight feeders from 550-700 lbs. found the most strength and were mostly higher across the state while feather weights and a lighter supply of heavy weights were mostly lower. The supply of feeders was much lighter this week a combination of heat and spots of heavy rains around the state. Pastures and water conditions around the state are looking very good for mid-August and most producers are very happy about the amount of green they are seeing on their farms. The exception would be some areas in the south west which are still considered abnormally dry. Fed cattle trade continued the climb higher marking six weeks of higher prices. As of this report live sales have been reported from 102.00-107.40 and dressed sales 165.00-170.00. Boxed beef cutouts are also higher again this week, as of Thursday’s close choice was reported at 210.95 up 5.48 and select at 195.41 up 2.66 compared to last Friday’s close. Friday’s Missouri Stocker Formula consisted of 3229 head with a weighted average weight of 559.17 lbs. and a price value of 157.30, .17 lower than last Friday.
