Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady to 2.00 lower. The supply of feeders was moderate and demand was good. A shortened holiday week had some sales remaining dark, however Joplin Regional Stockyards and Green City Livestock Auction had heavy supplies with those two auctions alone accounting for over half of the total feeder volume this week. Several of the barns holding sales this week had at least a few loads of yearlings. When all was said and done 62 percent of the feeder offering was over 600 lbs. As of this report there has been some feedlot trade take place. It is likely more with develop on Thursday and both sides will try to get business done in order to get home in time to BBQ and light fireworks. Thus far live sales have been reported from 95.00-97.00 and dressed from 152.00-155.00. Boxed beef cutouts closed Wednesday with choice down 1.79 compared to last Friday at 205.38, select down .47 cents at 198.43. No regular sales in the state on Thursday so Fridays Stocker Formula consists of 5,284 head with a weighted average weight of 559.93 lbs. and a price value of 152.44, 0.69 lower than last Friday. Joplin will hold their annual big bang video sale on Thursday afternoon and are expecting around 25,000 head.
