Compared to last week steers under 500 lbs. sold steady to 3.00 lower, steers over 500 lbs. sold steady to 3.00 higher, heifers 500-700 lbs. steady to 2.00 higher, lighter and heavier weights sold mostly steady to 1.00 lower. The supply of feeders was moderate and demand was good. Several reporters noted some loads of yearlings this week which always find good demand this time of year and generally add some excitement to the auction. The weather proved to be nicer than forecast predicted this time last week and many farmers continued to do a lot of haying this week. Pastures with decent management continue to look good. Although most of the state isn’t showing anywhere on the drought monitor many are hoping for that nice around the 4th of July rain to keep grass green and crops growing. Feedlot sales this week have once again been lower as of this report live sales for the week have ranged from 93.00-98.00 mostly 95.00-97.00, dressed sales have been reported from 153.00-156.00. Negotiated weekly volumes have been good over the last several weeks with some amount of trade reported nearly every day. Boxed beef values continue to fall as of Thursday’s close choice was reported at 208.26 down 5.46 and select 199.93, down 3.98 compared to last Friday. Friday’s Missouri Stocker Formula consisted of 7,320 head with a weighted average weight of 546.86 lbs. and a price value of 153.13, 2.04 higher than last Friday.
