Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves steady to 3.00 lower, yearlings steady to spots 3.00 higher. Demand was moderate and supply

heavy. Plenty of reputation consignments were on offer as many barns saw heavy receipts this week after coming off a holiday week. Some

haying has been done, but most of the state has been too wet for many producers to get into their fields. A couple of days early week were

dry and hot enough to get some fields of hay done, before the next round of precipitation. Slaughter numbers have slowly climbed back up,

almost back to normal levels. As of Thursday’s close, estimated slaughter was at 457,000 head, with daily estimates over 110,000 head per

day. Futures are still quite a bit lower than the cash market with the front months closing on Thursday at 95.72 and 97.92, 4.00 lower and

1.68 lower than last Friday, respectively. Live sales have been reported from 105.00 to 117.00 and dressed purchases from 175.00 to 185.00. Boxed beef cutouts are about back to normal levels, as well, with Choice cuts closing on Thursday at 272.26 and Select at 260.41, 91.08 lower and 79.66 lower than last Friday, respectively. On Wednesday, cuts fell below the 300.00 mark for the first time since April 24. Friday’s Missouri Stocker Formula consists Today’s Missouri Stocker Formula consists of 11,150 head with a weighted average weight of 544.76 lbs. and a price value of 156.07, 1.80 lower than last Friday. Supply included: 89% Feeder Cattle (59% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 38% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 7% Slaughter Cattle (6% Steers, 1% Heifers, 80% Cows, 12% Bulls); 4% Replacement Cattle (15% Stock Cows, 56% Bred Cows, 2% Bred Heifers, 26% Cow-Calf Pairs, 2% Heifer Pairs, 0% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 46%.
