Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves steady to 5.00 higher, spots up to 10.00 higher on the attractive calves with good condition. Yearlings uneven from 2.00 lower to 3.00 higher. More storms and winter weather made its way across the state this week, adding to the already sloppy, muddy conditions in lots and pastures. The bitter temperatures allowed for the ground to freeze in some areas, but it looks like it will be short lived, as warmer temperatures are in the forecast once again. Feedlots seem to have plenty of supply and heavier weight feeders are still seeing lighter demand. The uncertainty about beef demand is still in traders' minds as worries about the Coronavirus persist, as well. Boxed beef values closed on Thursday at 206.45 and 203.79 for Choice and Select, respectively. Choice is 3.76 lower and Select is 0.10 lower, when compared to last Friday. In negotiated cash sales, live purchases ranged from 117.00 to 120.50, mostly at 119.00. Dressed purchases ranged from 189.00 to 192.00. Friday’s Missouri Stocker Formula consists of 5635 head with a weighted average weight of 547.92 lbs and a price value of 165.77, 4.64 higher than last Friday.
