Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady to 5.00 higher, with sharp discounts being applied to unweaned calves with no solid health programs. The supply of feeders was moderate. There remains the thoughts that there still has to be a lot of cattle in the country to be marketed following the low receipts of last month but so far they have yet to materialize. The offering was made up of mostly calves as true yearlings are pretty scarce. Demand for feeders is good for those calves at least 45 days weaned and preferably 60 days along with a couple of rounds of shots. The seasonal temperature swings have arrived and calves that show up bawling and without health records have a hard time finding eager new owners, regardless of genetics they may possess. As of Thursday[s close the choice boxed beef cutout value is up 3.67 compared to last Friday at 215.63, select has lost .26 at 186.66. Feedlot sales have gained a bit over the last few weeks a few live sales reported at 109.00 which is a couple dollars higher than last week. No good test of the dressed market so far this week, a very small number early week was reported at 170.00 which is steady with last week. Friday[s Missouri Stocker Formula consists of 4183 head with a weighted average of 546.09 lbs. and a price value of 151.57, which is 0.24 higher than last Friday.
