Compared to last week steer calves less than 700 lbs sold 12.00 to 20.00 higher, over 700 lbs sold 4.00 to 6.00 lower. Heifer calves less than 700 lbs sold 1.00 to 4.00 higher, over 700 lbs sold steady to 4.00 lower. Slaughter cows sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher and bulls sold 8.00 lower on average. Demand was good for most offering with yearling buyers bidding with a little more caution since the CME cattle boards were volatile in a negative way. Demand for bred cows was very good. Feedlot sales gained some ground on their counter parts in the Northern Plains. Live sales traded from 242.00 to 243.00 which is steady to 1.00 higher than last week and equals Nebraska prices. Quite a lot of hay continues to get produced with movement rather slow for this time of year. Several thousand tons of grinding type hay has been produced this summer and will have to the feedlot or maybe a cow/calf person with a feed wagon to get used up. Silage choppers are going to add green chop to the pits as feedlots gear up for another year of feeding calves and yearlings heading to the lots.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
